'Museum' sequel pens Guest

Actor set to play Ivan the Terrible

Christopher Guest is taking it up to 11 for Fox's sequel to "Night at the Museum."

The "Spinal Tap" star has joined the cast as Ivan the Terrible for the comedy adventure, officially titled "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian."

Also joining the cast are Jon Bernthal (Al Capone), Bill Hader (Gen. George Armstrong Custer) and French actor Alain Chabat (Napoleon).

The film, directed by Shawn Levy, reunites lead Ben Stiller with castmates Robin Williams, Ricky Gervais and Owen Wilson.

Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon, who penned both "Museum" films, will make a cameo in the sequel, playing the Wright brothers.

"Museum" was a boxoffice success for Fox, grossing $574 million worldwide. With the Smithsonian as the centerpiece, the studio and Levy kicked the current production up a notch by getting the rare chance to film portions of the movie in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington.

The film is shooting in Vancouver, with a behind-the-scenes team that includes director of photography John Schwartzman ("Pearl Harbor"), editors Don Zimmerman and Dean Zimmerman ("Rush Hour 3"), production designer Claude Pare ("The Aviator") and costume designer Marlene Stewart ("Tropic Thunder").

Cartoon Inspiration Wife Dies

The woman who inspired the matriarch in the beloved FAMILY CIRCUS comic strip has died. She was 82.

Thelma Keane, the wife of acclaimed cartoonist Bil Keane, died on Friday (23May08) at her home in Paradise Valley, Arizona after a five-year battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Keane began drawing the long-running cartoon in 1960 and based the Mommy character on his wife Thelma. The comic is printed in nearly 1,500 publications worldwide.

The pair met during World War II when he was stationed in Brisbane, Australia, from which Thelma was a native. They married in 1948 and moved to Keane's hometown of Philadelphia. They had five children.

Thelma acted as Keane's business manager and battled for her husband to become one of the first syndicated newspaper cartoonists to win back all rights to his published drawings.

Keane remembers his wife fondly, saying, "The losing of Thel is a heartbreaking thing for me.

"However, it makes me realise how important she was to my worldly success, and I know where she is now, I feel that she's still helping me and probably giving me the inspirations you can only get from an angel in heaven."

Winehouse's mother says she's recovering

Amy Winehouse's mother Janis has spoken about her daughter's Grammy success, saying that she believes the singer is on "the road to recovery".
Winehouse picked up five Grammy awards but could not attend the ceremony in Los Angeles because of visa problems. She performed at the event via satellite from London.
Speaking on 'GMTV', Janis Winehouse said: "Well, as you saw, she looks good and it's a case of she's on the road, and that's what it's about, she's on the road to recovery."
"I think it would have been too much for her because all of the travelling and flying there, I mean seeing what the Grammys was like... we could see it live from there and I thought if Amy were there, she'd be lost in it, she'd be a little girl lost in it."
Speaking about her daughter's Grammys performance, she said: "Well, it's Amy coming back, she's definitely on the way back."
The star's mother also spoke about her fears for her daughter's health before she entered rehab, saying: "She was sort of with it but not with it, and that's the thing where I think fortunately, thank goodness in our family, she's got a solid family and we're all there for her."
